What is Oprah's InfluenceOprah Winfrey is a "celebrity", which used to just mean that she was well known in the community due to her entertainment popularity, but now that word has a greater more powerful meaning with many celebrities using the term celebrity as a mean to gain influence in society. And with Oprah being known as the most influential/powerful woman in the world due to her ability to greatly influence people through the use of her very well known talk show. In 2011 an estimated 48 million viewers watched her show during one week in that year and a estimated 55 million books were bought after she reviewed them. This shows how Oprah's opinions and personal thoughts on a subject can greatly effect what other people think. Another example of this is how in the 2008 presidential election a article called "Oprah worth a million votes towards Obama" by Brian Selter included a numerical evidence counted by the economists Craig Garthwaite and Timothy Moore showing that after Oprah endorsed Obama and showed up on the campaign, Obama’s voting expanded from 423,123 to 1,596,995.
